Volunteering at Lunches of Love

Yesterday we went to Lunches of Love to volunteer. Lunches of Love is a non-profit organization that is committed to helping end childhood hunger in the Richmond-Rosenberg area by providing a free nutritious sack lunch to kids in need. It's an amazing organization!

Our Girl Scout troop sponsored 2 children through Lunches of Love which means we will be able to feed 2 children for the entire summer!  The girls are donating a portion of their cookie sale money to do this. So cool!

We started off filling bags with 10 grapes each.

Lunches of Love makes 2500 sack lunches EVERY SINGLE DAY during the summer -- ALL done by VOLUNTEERS ONLY!  What is amazing is that almost all the spots are full for the entire summer and you have to check the sign-up sheet every day for cancellations just to come volunteer if you haven't already secured your spot. WOW!

And every one of these 2500 bags are decorated DAILY for the kids who receive them!

Next is the assembly line to fill the paper bags with one sandwich, a drink, a nutritious snack and a fruit. Then, to pack them in containers to take them to the drop off locations for kids in need.

Each of our girls also donated 5 boxes of cereal to Lunches of Love. Lunches of Love gives each child/family a box of cereal every Friday so they have breakfast for the weekend. Again, it's an amazing organization. We donated over 60 boxes of cereal!

Kendyl and I always have such a great time at Lunches of Love and it fills our heart to be able to help in any way we can.

Hope you had a great day too!
