InstaCollage Favorite Things

Kendyl showed me this cool app called InstaCollage. I've been having so much fun playing with it. You can take any pictures and make them into collages. So cool!

On my ipad, I always take screenshots of all the things I want that I see on pinterest, blogs, amazon, etc. So the first collage I made was of some cool things I found. And it was the inspiration for this post.

I hope my husband reads my blog.  :)

Here they are.

1. INSTANT DIGITAL CAMERA!! How cool is this!!??? It comes out in 2014. I am going to be the first in line to get one! If Polaroid and Instragram had a love child, it would be Socialmatic's Instant Digital & Film Camera. It will look like the Instagram icon! The Socialmatic camera allows its users to point, snap and apply one of Instagram's retro filters to get various artistic effects. AND the device will have a built-in Zink printer, Wi-Fi and the ability to sync photos to one's Instagram and Facebook accounts. Get outta town!

2. LENS COFFEE MUG!!  Love this! What a great gift this would be for people who love to take pictures! ah-hem, hint, hint. They have a Nikon one and a Cannon one. And many other brands too. I'm a Nikon girl in case anyone is wondering. And my birthday is in October.  :)

3. SCRAPRACK!! Must have this very soon! You can see a video of it here http://thescraprack.easystorecreator.com/items/SHOPPING/1-ScrapRacks/list.htm. I'm an enabler.

4. PAMPERED CHEF 4 MINI LOAF PAN!! Ok, LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I don't know why I don't already own this! What am I waiting for???

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

2nd Grade Picnic

They had an AR (Accelerated Reading) Party and Picnic at school for the kids who met their reading goal for the school year.

We started with a lunch picnic across the street from the school at the neighborhood park. You should have seen me trying to get a wheelchair across the playground and then across the street to the park. The ground was mushy (not muddy, thankfully) so that was my first obstacle. Then, when we finally got to the street, I then had to get across it. The problem: curbs. Kendyl is deathly afraid of going over bumps in the wheelchair or pulling the wheelchair down on two wheels to go up and over things, i.e. door thresholds, CURBS, etc.

Now, let me also mention here that I am still sick and have NO energy. Kendyl also couldn't sleep the night before because her cast itched and we were up until 4:30am -- so we slept for about 2 hours. And let's not forget about my fall the day before that left me walking with a limp.

So, I could have walked about 1/2 a block to the corner of the street to go down the ramp and walk 1/2 block back up the street to the park but I had no desire to do that. Luckily, a teacher was walking by and she rolled the wheelchair across the street and I carried Kendyl. So, basically, I was pooped 10 minutes into the 2 hour party! Good times!

But it was lots of fun and I'm glad we went. There was a point when we didn't think we would be able to go because of being in a wheelchair but I talked Kendyl into it because she has worked so hard all year to meet her reading goal.

We ate lunch at the park...

...and then we went back to the school for snow cones.

So, much like the laws of physics, what goes up must come back down. And what goes across the street through a mushy field and over curbs, must come back! This time, I told Kendyl we were curb hopping in the wheelchair! I promised her I wouldn't drop her and although she was skeptical, she agreed. We made it back in one piece and no mishaps. Hurray! Chalk this one up as another wheelchair success story! The smile on her face is proof!

Have I mentioned yet that I.CAN'T.WAIT.UNTIL.FRIDAY!!?? When we go back to the doctor and hopefully get that cast off and a boot put on!!  Leave a comment - say a prayer for us for a good doctor visit!  :)

Memorial Day

We didn't really have any big plans for Memorial Day. We usually invite people over to our house for swimming and a BBQ but our plans were foiled due to the broken leg. So we just stayed home and had a quiet day to ourselves, which rarely happens, so it was nice.

One of the local Boy Scouts group has a Flag Fund Raiser where they place flags in your yard on flag holidays throughout the year. We support them every year and I love to see my flag flying in front of our house. It magically appears and disappears on each flag day. DISCLAIMER: Excuse the brown patch in the corner of the grass, apparently there was a fertilizer mishap. And excuse our lopsided tree (that drives me crazy) - that's thanks to Hurricane Ike.

I decided to put all the pool stuff out for the summer.  I've had all our cushions, umbrellas and decorations in the shed for safe keeping against the weather. I had to get all new cushions for the bar stools and the patio furniture because the sun just destroys them throughout the year. I bought them back in January so I've been waiting waiting waiting to put them out. Once they're out, they will stay out until winter because we're outside pretty much every day during the summer and fall.

We FINALLY were able to go in our pool this year! Our pool isn't heated so it's been so cold up until now.

Miley loves to swim! All you have to say is "swim" and grab a towel and she literally jumps 4 feet into the pool. It's so funny and it never gets old to watch!

She took the maiden voyage in the pool for 2013.

She can swim for hours!

Lap after lap

Kendyl sat on the side of the pool and played in the water

She had so much fun!

I took a quick dip too. Kendyl suggested it so I did! I wasn't planning on it because I didn't think it was fair if she couldn't go in but she wanted us to dive for swim toys. Of course, I couldn't refuse her.

And we did a little grilling.

I also made these and some grilled zucchini. They came out so good!

Oh, I also fell this weekend. That was embarrassing. I was walking out of the store with bags in my hand and saw my dream car drive by so I was looking at it and my ankle rolled and down I went! I landed on my knee and my arm, my bags and purse flew in the street. The reason I share this story is because my hand hurt so bad from falling and I'm lucky I didn't break my arm. Can you imagine - Kendyl with a broken leg and me with a broken arm. That would have been a sight! Talk about a fun summer! This isn't the first time I've fallen. I did it not too long ago too (carrying a jar of pickles, no less) and this time I landed on the same knee and scraped the scar I had from my last fall. Sweet!  And lastly, I have to mention the GIANT scar I have on the same knee from when I fell when I was in college. Anyhoo, I'm a klutz. Matt's a klutz and there's no hope for Kendyl, I'm afraid.

By the way, I'm fine, just a little scrape and a limp.

Have a great day!

Project Life 2013 Post #10

This post starts with May 2013.

I do Project Life like I would do a regular scrapbook: chronologically and I do one whole page or two pages of the same theme/occasion, but many times my pages have random pictures too. I still do Project Life  weekly (really I will work on my albums almost every day) but I have several pages per week instead of a 2-page spread per week.

Here we go...

Left Side: New cabinets in my office/studio
Right Side: Kendyl with her friends during recess and lunch

Left Side
I've been wanting cabinets in my studio for a long time and finally got them for Mother's Day! I'm so excited for all the extra storage. I still have some more decorating to do and organizing but it's a long process because I have so much stuff. I am getting rid of a lot of things.

Right Side
I went to volunteer at the school for Teacher Time Out. This is when the parents watch the kids during recess and lunch so the teachers can go out to lunch as a group. I love to volunteer for this because I can take pictures of Kendyl at school with her friends. She is sitting at a table in the back of the lunch room with her besties because her wheelchair doesn't fit under the lunch tables.

We do the Teacher Time Out monthly and I'm also on the yearbook staff so this is usually when I take my pictures for the yearbook. I was in charge of all of 2nd grade this year. All the kids know me because I've been doing the Teacher Time Out and yearbook since kindergarten and they all refer to me as "Kendyl's mom" - it's so cute. Even when I'm walking down the halls at school, they'll say "Hi Kendyl's mom!" LOVE.IT!

I highlighted Wednesday on the filler card and put the date here using Photoshop. One of my favorite fonts is called STAMP and I use it for almost all my dates. I also usually pick a color in one of my pictures (on this page I used the color pink from the little girl's dress is the top left corner of the picture) and coordinate it with my journaling cards. I use the Eyedropper Tool in Photoshop to do this so my page(s) have a cohesive look.

I also got a picture of her whole class after lunch. The 2nd grade tab is from my new punch I got here. I LOVE it!! And I stamped 2nd grade on it using Staz On Ink (my favorite) and used the little stamps I get in the dollar bins at Michaels. They're tiny stamps and I love them too. But they don't have numbers, they are only the alphabet so I used a 2 from a different stamp set.

Kendyl's school work (here I used the blue color in her school work (the kite above) using the Eyedropper Tool to fill in the blue in the heart filler card in Photoshop). The heart filler card is Ali Edwards Hello Heart 4x6 Sentiment Boxes Brushes and Stamps.  And here's another 2nd grade tab using my tab punch.

More school work

Picture of all her signatures on her cast (I took this picture at the doctor's office when I thought we were getting the cast off but it didn't heal enough and we had to have it for 2 more weeks). I used the Ali Edwards Hello Heart 4x6 Sentiment Boxes Brushes and Stamps (it says *heart* this).

Right Side Insert (Becky Higgins Design J): Crawfish boil at a friend's house. On the right middle picture above, I used www.shopevalicious.com's hi summer label tags. I just recently bought them for the first time and love them and must get more.

Right Side Insert #2: 8x8 Mother's Day picture of Kendyl and I.
My new obsession this week is wood veneers and stickles! The heart in the picture above is a little wood veneer that I covered with red glitter stickles. It came out so cute! I bought some more stickles this weekend and have been using them on all my wood veneers and they are so fun!

Right Side Insert #3: Mother's Day card Kendyl made for me at school (heehee)

Finally the RIGHT SIDE! Girl Scouts Princess Tea Party

I don't usually do elaborate filler cards with a bunch of embellishments but something came over me. I'm not sure if I really like it????? I covered another wood veneer heart with pink glitter stickles.
